Life Experience’s Are Key To Cre8ing Your Well Defined Goal
Hello everyone San here,
Life teaches us many things while we hurry about this world to get where we are going. Many of us never realize the power of a well defined goal and how it lies within us all.
Have you ever just stopped and wondered “Where I am going and how am I going to get there?” Or “What am I going to do Once I get there?” I want you to try it right now, just think about it before you go on reading. Okay ready?
The best way to find out where you are going is to know where you have been and have a well defined goal to show you where you go from here, most people really do not have one. They may have a general idea of where it is they want to go, but no pinpoint direction. Lets start at the beginning of things and find your direction.
Surviving childhood can be a traumatic experience or …….
it can be the best experience of your life. For me it was the best time of my life and I would do it again if I could.
Often my wife and I talk about our childhoods, about how much they were different and how much they were alike. Since we grew up in different countries you can imagine the differences, but it is the way our childhoods are alike that amazed me.
One of the ways our childhoods were alike is we have memories of that one person in our lives that we were lucky enough to spend a lot of time with and learn from.
The most memorable moments of my childhood came when I would be hanging out with my grandfather.
We would spend days together at the ranch working with the horses and taking care of their needs.
It was hard work but I enjoyed it because of who I got to be with when I was doing it. He is gone now but the memories of our time together just burn in my mind.
The one memory that sticks out the most is when he would ask me…
What do you want to be?
When I was very young I would tell him that I wanted to be like him, a jockey, riding horses and winning races. He would just laugh and say
“You are already bigger than most Jocks and I don’t think that one is gonna work out for you so you will have to put more thought into it than that.”
Funny, I never really did put much thought into that when I was young, it wasn’t till I was much older, like my early 40’s that I actually put a lot of thought into it.
Finding a direction.
I am not sure why I waited so long to figure what I wanted to do with my life but now that I have decided the hard part comes, actually doing it. There was so much that I had not learned and so much that I had learned in my life that I needed to find some kind of direction on how to proceed.
It is not what you know, it is how you use what you know.
Ever hear that old cliche “It is not what you know but who you know that is important.” I want to point out that statement is only partially correct.
You could be well acquainted with a powerful man like Bill Gates and have a plethora of knowledge that you both share but yet you can seem to make a success out of life in the manner that he has. Knowing Bill Gates has been of no use or value to you.
YOU MUST NOT ONLY KNOW, YOU MUST DO IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED
Most people find themselves in this position in life, like me you have acquired a lot of experience and knowledge about many things through the course of your life but without some kind of organized effort or a well defined goal on how to use all that knowledge it becomes useless.
I propose that we study that for a minute and ask ourselves “What have I learned through the experiences of my life” (write out a list of the answers, the older you are the longer the list should be)
If you are over forty your list should be quite extensive and full of different kinds of knowledge and experiences. Is it? Good! Lets put that knowledge to work for you and change your life into a work of art.
This is fun part coming up, take a look at your list. What on your list brought you the most joy, happiness, feeling of completeness, peace or whatever makes you feel like life is worth living? I found mine this way, it works just keep thinking about those experiences and when you find yourself smiling at the memories of them those are the ones that I am talking about.
